From January 9 to January 18, 2009; Canadian Minister for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Jason Kenny visited Pakistan and India. He said in a press conference that Pakistan and Canada, as well as India and Canada are enjoying pleasant relations and share a common of awareness on important international issues of common interest.

The minister said three countries have the technological ability, the resources, the infrastructure and the manpower to bring about a change. There is a want to give material to bilateral economic relations to perform the hopes and objectives of our people for success.

The Canadian Minister, Jason Kenny said that the intention of his visit to Pakistan and India is to discover the opportunity of growth of more close and pleasant relations between the countries for taking skilled and semi-skilled labor, for the growth of construction, agriculture, and industrial sectors in some provinces of Canada.

He further added that India and Pakistan has an enormous potential for labor force and skilled workers which is required in Canada. So Canada will intake about 0.6 million immigrants in the years 2009 and 2010.

On the question of 'long Immigration times' from the different communities of Pakistan and India, he assured them that Canadian High Commissions is working on this in India, Pakistan and Philippines to reduce the immigration processing time from these countries. He added that new staff at Visa offices of Pakistan, India and Philippines has hired to expedite the immigration process and give a relief to citizens of these countries who are fed up from a long waiting time of immigration to Canada.
